Foiling & Sailing Media Summit 2026
PROGRAMME
5 October 2026 – 16:00
LOUNGE BANCHINA F – GENOA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW
Sport used to reach us through the press. A journalist in the press box, a helicopter overhead, a highlights package that night. That’s not how most of us watch anymore. Athletes film themselves. Creators get closer than any broadcaster ever did. A drone follows the boat, a 360 camera rides on the helmet, and the clip is online before the race is over. Foiling lives right in the middle of this. It’s too fast for the old way of filming and it grew up with the new one. So the content has never been better. The problem is everything around it: who gets access, who owns what, formats that still assume a newsroom. That’s what we want to work on in Genoa, with the people who actually do this for a living: the ones who control the material and the ones who have to turn it into a story.
Reimagining the Future of Media in Sailing and Foiling
5 October 2026
Premium broadcast, social-first content and athlete-led storytelling now shape the same sport ecosystem. How can rights holders, teams, athletes, creators and platforms work together to build audiences that stay engaged between events?
This panel connects distribution strategy with the questions that determine who can tell the story: creator access, athlete and team obligations, content rights and archive ownership. It then examines how stronger storytelling translates into sponsorship value, lasting communities and benefits for host destinations, with measures of success that go beyond reach.

Sailing and foiling produce extraordinary images, yet the action can still be difficult to follow. How can new capture technologies, live data and intelligent production workflows help audiences understand the race and connect with its athletes?
From FPV drones and onboard audio to telemetry, augmented graphics and AI-assisted editing, this panel explores the tools changing how the sport is captured and explained. Built around clips and practical examples, the discussion examines what improves the viewer experience, what is already working in production, and where safety, cost and human editorial judgment set the limits.
